I believe God is going to meet men at this retreat.
Not because a beautiful house and a private chef make that happen. Because He promises to. "Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you." "Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." You've been drawing near on fumes — in the truck, between meetings, in the fifteen minutes before the kids wake up. There's nothing wrong with that. But when a man breaks away from the noise entirely and seeks God with focus, silence, and brothers praying over him by name, God does not stand back. Paul told the Roman church he longed to see them face to face.

Even Paul, who wrote them the greatest letter in history, knew some things don't transfer through the page. They happen in person. I've watched it — in Belgium this spring, and nearly every other time I've traveled to speak and minister. Men hear from God about their marriage, their work, their sons. Burdens they've carried for years get set down. I'm not promising you goosebumps or an emotional weekend. I'm telling you what I expect, and what I'll be praying for over each of the ten men by name before we ever get to Nashville: that you'd leave with rest that lasts, clarity you didn't manufacture, and something from God you couldn't have gotten at home.
